SKIN: simple routine ….for those who want a simple routine…

Well, like you’ve seen in my skin woes, I haven’t had the best skin. Over the years I decided to start making my own facials because I have hyperpigmentation. Then I started to use a RANGE of different cleansers, which didn’t actually help because my face was not getting used to one before I hopped on to the next one.

  1. Find a Cleanser

I’m pretty sure the main reason why I wanted my skin to be better actually was so my make-up would look better, I never actually thought to just have clean and healthy skin….odd, I don’t get that myself. Anyway, it was an off by chance moment my mum got me this Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Cleansing Gel I think it was two or a year and a half back, when I mean……..

My face… I could see what I was working with any spots that I had the night before actually minimized or disappeared. LOVED IT. This cleanser is actually my go to when I feel I need to prevent a break out but it’s not my main cleanser as sometimes I feel like using too much of a good thing won’t always work out for the best, but my number 1 cleanser I would buy without doubt is that cleanser. The nice thing about it, is that my face never felt like it was overly dry it was balanced between moisturised and being cleansed not to mention it brightened my complexion.

2. Get you a Facial Brush…thing

When I hit University I think I took my skin care more seriously so I bought a simple face scrub kit from Amazon, it was cheap, and I began to use that along with the Palmers just wetting the brush head and then adding the cleanser on to the brush and using in circular motions on my face and neck. Try and invest in one, you don’t necessarily need to buy an expensive one (mine stopped working flipping a month after I bought it) but you can get manual ones. Again, brighter complexion, dirt was lifted and my skin got a lot softer.

3. Tone that sh!t

I recently started to do this, I stopped using facial toners from shops, and made my own. Before I stopped I was using Witch Hazel, I got it from Superdrug. Although I really liked the feel of Witch Hazel on my skin, I wasn’t seeing too much of a difference, let’s say it was steady. I watched one woman’s YouTube channel and I knew she wasn’t wearing makeup but her skin was crazy clear. She said there was alcohol in most toners, which I never took into consideration. So I poured the rest of my Witch Hazel in another toner bottle and began to make a concoction *Hahaha* it’s not that deep it’s just Apple Cider Vinegar with some water. I thought why not just give it a try, and I actually absolutely wish I did it sooner. My face does smell I won’t lie for a couple minutes, but when I woke up the next day my skin was clear as hell.Just pour about a quarter of Apple Cider Vinegar in bottle and fill the other half with plain water and give it a small shake. You can use it twice a day. Once in the morning and once before bed with some cotton wool and it’s all good. Your face will smell a little funky but it will die down.

4. Fade it

It’s weird I have an Aloe Vera plant in my house since I was little and I only ever used it when I had burns which wasn’t often. I stumbled across Aloe Vera Gel in a small chemist, I think I was looking for toners. But I bought that instead. After I’ve washed my face off I add the Aloe Vera Gel it cools my face down and makes it feel fresh, kind of like a moisturiser, but it’s helping to fade markings on my cheeks. (Some people are allergic to Aloe Vera so be careful). Put the Aloe Vera on after you put your toner on.

5. Moisture mama

Moisture that skin, it’ll love you till the end. I bought pure (I seem to buy a lot) Vitamin E oil, it is heavy and thick, I wouldn’t recommend putting the full thing on your face it’s a little…hmm. So I mixed it with another cream not too much just enough to cover my face, Vitamin E is supposed to help with spots, and just nourish the skin, so make sure you choose a moisturizer that is right for your skin as it will help along with the process.

I hope this helps, you don’t need to necessarily use any of those items but having a form of routine might help, I’ll be sure to put up a list of facial soaps and cleansers that I’m currently using or have used that did help and facial masks.
